JOURNEY OF THE THORN

When my Dad was still alive he loved growing roses. Whenever I went home he would insist on giving me a bouquet of roses to take back with me. As I lived over 120 kilometres away, on hot days the roses were close to wilted by the time I arrived. However, I noticed that the stems and thorns were actually quite beautiful in their own right and in some way represent the small hurts and heartaches that present themselves in everyone's life journey.

I enjoy weaving on a larger size more than small ones. It gives me so much more scope to bring in detail and subtleties .The following tapestries are ones where I chose to weave only a large tapestry.
